Pants.Another crappy attempt at blogging. This time as a London-based make up artist. Posts may or may not be related to make up at all, but they will involve things that I find awesome, as well as a bit of whingeing. What else is new?
So I decided very sensibly to lay low after our 3 week whirlwind adventure, as it left me exhuasted and stressy. I haven’t even told my school/agency I’m back yet! Of course this hasn’t stopped me from working, which is awesome. I’m glad I haven’t been a sook, sitting at home all day reading about Intermittent..Fast..ing…
Okay, so I did that for a few days. Whatevs.
First job back was helping someone out on a pick up for a (omg not a student) short film. It’s always awkward starting on something halfway through.. No one trusts you, and if you get stuff wrong (you will, no matter how closely you follow instructions. If you haven’t been shown it, or didn’t design it yourself, make ups WILL differ slightly), actors gang up on you in a passive-aggresive way and say “It’s not your fault, you didn’t know.. Do it again!!”
Second job helped get my confidence back up after that big blow in July. It was a fairly simple job, which helps a lot! I had to do make up for “the most boring man in the world” for a charity campaign for Action Aid. I just added a hint of grey to his foundation, and airbrushed him. It turned out pretty well if I say so myself! Not like the tin man, which I was worried about! I was my usual helpy helperson on set, too. Since he was airbrushed, he really had little upkeep- just the odd powdering, so I helped pass props too him off screen- once the campaign starts, I’ll post videos!
The set was awesome too.. everything was spray-painted grey!
Third and most exciting job is tomorrow, and amazingly, my newly kind of employed (intern) sister hooked me up! It’s a viral promo video for Tekken, and it’s going to be heaps of fighting and punching and blood and hot girls in school girl outfits fighting over hair straighteners and stuff.. shot on Hi-Speed cameras. AWESOME SLOW MOTION FACE WOBBLING!
So today I need to get a hold of a whole bunch of stuff for tomorrow. Including a moustache. Eek! Very excited but also nervous, which is a good thing, I think. If you aren’t slightly nervous about a new job, you’re bound to fuck it up, I reckon. :D
